<p>The invention concerns an electronic claims and payment system and method. The system includes a transaction device (TD) to obtain member identifier data, member provider data, and transaction request data representative of a type and a value of a service purchased. A router communicatively coupled to the TD and a member provider which comprises a processor to (1) receive from the TD, and route to the member provider, transaction request data, associated member identifier data and member provider data and (2) receive from the member provider, and route to the TD, data representative of a first portion of the value of the service, which is to be paid by the purchaser and a second portion of the value of the service, which is to be reimbursed to a supplier of the service. The TD is further operable to receive data representative of payment of the first portion of the value of the service, and in response, instruct the member provider to credit of the supplier with the second portion of the value of the service.</p> |
