<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a theft prevention device for highly accurately detecting, at low cost, theft of a device installed in a disk array device, and swiftly giving a notification of the theft upon its occurrence. <P>SOLUTION: A control part 170 determines whether a cover 140 covering an opening 110a of a storage part 110 for storing a device 120 is fixed by a fixing part 150. Upon determining that the cover 140 is not fixed, the control part 170 determines whether the device 120 and an external device 10 are connected by a connecting part 130.
