A projection optical system is provided to be attached on many kind of device using a front side or rear side projection and to be used for all kind of projector, projection television set and display. A projection optical system comprises a first optical part(1), a second optical part(2), a third optical part(3), and a deflector(4). One or more optical element is formed on the first optical part. The first optical part projects incoming image. The second optical part comprises a picture-forming element and one or more optical elements. The second optical part forms image. The formed image is emitted towards the first optical part. A pupil plane of the second optical part is located between the first and the second optical part. The third optical part emits the light. An optical axis of the third optical part inclines toward the optical axis of the second optical part. The deflector changes the pathway of the light coming out from the third optical part in order to turn toward the second optical part side. |
