<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type circular polarized light separation element capable of suppressing occurrence of color unevenness and a liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing the occurrence of color unevenness. <P>SOLUTION: The reflection type circular polarized light separation element is provided with a resin layer having cholesteric regularity and an optical isotropic medium layer provided in contact with at least one surface of the resin layer having the cholesteric regularity. The average refractive index (na) of the ordinary refractive index (no) and the extraordinary refractive index (ne) of a nematic layer constituting the interface of the resin layer having the cholesteric regularity in a wave length (λ) of light reflected, polarized and separated on the interface of the side of the resin layer having the cholesteric regularity, which is brought into contact with the optical isotropic medium layer, and the refractive index (nb) of the optical isotropic medium layer in the wave length (λ) satisfies a relation of nb-0.05<na<nb+0.03. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
