PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder having excellent mounting properties and replacement work properties, a method for mounting the encoder, and a motor device. SOLUTION: The encoder includes a disk part 15 which has a revolving code plate 9 having a prescribed pattern formed and which is fixed to the rotating shaft 2 of a measuring object 1 and revolves, a detecting part 8 which detects the prescribed pattern, and a base part which holds the disk part.
