1,247,745. Blow-moulding. H. TAKEHARA. 25 Sept., 1969 [25 Sept., 1968; 26 Sept., 1968 (2); 27 Dec., 1968], No. 47361/69. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B8] A single vessel 112, obtained by separating a hermetically sealed pair of vessels 79 at a common weakened mouth portion 80, is moulded into a bottle of larger shape in a two-part cylindrical mould 102, 102 which is adapted to be intermittently rotated about a horizontal axis on a base 101 and has a mouth 105 which receives a holder 107 with the vessel 112 supported thereon. The vessel 112 is heated by means not shown and, when the opening 105 is closed by a cover 106 on the holder 107, air is supplied to a conduit 109 and discharged, through holes 108, into the interior of the vessel 112 to expand it into the shape of the interior 103 of the mould. Air from within the mould is discharged through a vent 110. In a modification, Fig. 13, not shown, a vessel (320) with a thickened mouth portion (321) is produced in a split mould (315) hot air being discharged into the vessel to soften it, and the rim of the vessel being flattened, to produce the thickened mouth (321), against an edge (316) of the mould as a metal cover (319) is closed against the opening of the mould. The preform pair of vessels 79 is formed by extrusion and vacuum forming. |
