<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system that can be designed flexibly so that the system attains color rendering coinciding with that of given spectrum distribution of sunlight, candle light or light generated by incandescent bulbs. <P>SOLUTION: A light emission device 10 includes at least two LED dies 14, 16 having spectral outputs differing from one another; and a phosphor material 18 including one or more phosphors, arranged to receive a spectral output from at least one of the LED dies and to responsively emit a phosphor output, as a component of a spectral output of the light emission device. In a specific arrangement, the multiple LED dies and the phosphor material are arranged to produce a white light output having a color temperature selected from among (i) color temperatures in a range of from 1,350 to 1,550°K, (ii) color temperatures in a range of from 2,400 to 3,550°K and (iii) color temperatures in a range of from 4,950 to 6,050°K. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
