<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate input device including detachable sensor units in which a user can automatically acquire positional information of the sensor units attached at arbitrary positions around a coordinate input area. <P>SOLUTION: Positional information of a first sensor unit and a second sensor unit is calculated by using angle information of a peak calculated from light quantity distribution having a plurality of peaks detected by a light receiving unit of the second sensor unit by light emission from a light emitting unit of the first sensor unit. Indication position coordinates are calculated based on the positional information of the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit and change in light receiving quantity distribution in accordance with an instruction to a coordinate input area detected by the light receiving unit.
