<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor optical device that suppresses inducement of noise. <P>SOLUTION: An semiconductor optical device includes: a first optical element 2 for amplifying light; a second optical element 13 for selecting a light of a predetermined wavelength band from lights incident from one end face of the first optical element 2; a first optical waveguide 22 for optically coupling the second optical element 13 and the first optical element 2; a reflecting mirror 38 for reflecting light incident from the other end face of the first optical element 2; an optical resonator 2, 38, 13 having a second optical waveguide 37 for coupling the reflecting mirror 38 and the first optical element 2; and an optical output section 24a optically connected to the optical resonator 2, 38, 13.
