<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the possibility of developing to nonnegligible abnormalities, by detecting a current flowing continuously between a generator field winding and the earth, and a current flowing intermittently between the generator field winding and the earth due to an intermittent precursor ground fault phenomenon. <P>SOLUTION: The generator field ground fault detector comprises a level determination means 9 for detecting the fact that a current i flowing between the generator field winding 2 and the ground Gd has a predetermined level or higher, an integration means 10 for integrating the time when the current has the predetermined level or higher when the level determination means determines that the current has the predetermined level or higher, and an output means 11 for outputting the integrated value of the integration means when it goes above a predetermined value.
