The network has a set of functional nodes (10) connected in series for transmission of information resources (11, 12) by optical fibers. The information resources are allowed to take the form of discreet messages that are to be propagated in the set of functional nodes. Each node comprises an input port (13) and an output port (14). The transmission of information resources is performed in a bidirectional manner. The transmission of resources is controlled in an exclusive and sequential manner between an asynchronous mode and a synchronous mode of the network.
