PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain display having an excellent visual effect by allowing a character, a graphic and a background thereof to emit light in different colors with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A display includes an inorganic EL element 10 and a high-frequency oscillator 20. The inorganic EL element 10 includes a back-face electrode 12 and a transparent electrode 15, which are continuously formed over a substantially entire area of a lighting area. The back-face electrode 12 includes a pattern portion 121 and a background portion 122 which are electrically isolated by a gap 123 formed so as to frame an outer shape of a pattern such as a character and a graphic. The transparent electrode 15 is formed in a solid surface. The high-frequency oscillator 20 includes first and second inverter circuits 22 and 23 which output high-frequency voltages to be applied to the pattern portion 121 and the background portion 122, respectively. The pattern portion 121 and the background portion 122 are different in area (capacity) from each other, so that the high-frequency voltages outputted from the first and second inverter circuits 22 and 23 are applied to the pattern portion 121 and the background portion 122 at different frequencies, respectively. |
