PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of easily registering, in an information appliance, a certificate for participating in a network through authentication procedures.SOLUTION: The communication system includes an information appliance 200 comprising a network interface for connecting to a network on the basis of authentication by certificate data and an external interface 202 into which a detachable recording medium is inserted. The information appliance 200 includes: a certificate storage unit 218 for storing certificate data; an authentication procedure unit 220 for performing authentication procedures on the basis of the stored certificate data; a security management unit 206 for, in response to insertion of a detachable external recording medium 150 into the external interface 202, reading certificate data identified in the detachable external recording medium 150; and a certificate registration unit 216 for, on the basis of the read certificate data, registering updated certificate data in the certificate storage unit 218. |
