Provided are an axial gap motor and a method for manufacturing a winding therefor such that cost reduction and increased output can be achieved without a jumper wire protruding from a continuously wound coil formed by winding an insulated conductor wire. The axial gap motor comprises a stator constituted by disposing a plurality of coils in an annular configuration, and a rotor rotatably attached facing one or both of the principal surfaces of the stator, having a plurality of permanent magnets corresponding to the plurality of coils of the stator. Each of the plurality of coils constituting the stator is formed by continuously winding one or more insulated conductor wires around the two or more segment cores as coil wires and then across said two or more segment cores. The stack thickness (L1') and the radial length (L2) of each coil satisfy the relation: L2 < L1'. The length of the jumper wire of the insulated conductor wires continuously wound across the two or more segment cores matches the radial length (L2) of the coil. |
