<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device incorporating a battery therein and a display method, which are capable of achieving low power consumption.SOLUTION: A display device according to an embodiment includes: a battery; a switching unit; a display panel; a backlight; a display controller; and a backlight controller. The switching unit switches over between an operation performed by the battery and an operation performed by an external power supply. The display panel displays thereon a video based on an input signal. The backlight emits light to the display panel. The display controller causes the video to be displayed in an entire area on the display panel when the display device operates with the external power supply, and causes the video to be displayed in a partial area on the display panel when the display device operates with the battery. The backlight controller controls the backlight so that it emits the light to irradiate the area where the video is displayed on the display panel with the light on the basis of the video displayed on the display panel.</p> |
