PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism to prevent unfair access to an information processing apparatus while suppressing a work load of a series of image reading operations on a user.SOLUTION: In an image reading system, connection information is given from the information processing apparatus to some image reading apparatus on a network, and image data transmission is permitted only when the image reading apparatus having received the connection apparatus accesses to the information processing apparatus. The image reading apparatus transmits the image data read from a document to a transmission destination according to the connection information given from the information processing apparatus.
