PURPOSE:To obtain the plastic optical fiber cord having excellent oil resistance and chemical resistance. CONSTITUTION:This plastic optical fiber cord is constituted by having a 1st coating layer 2 which consists of a polyolefin resin contg. 10 to 30wt.% magnesium hydroxide and has the outside diameter of >=1.6 times the diameter of a bare plastic optical fiber 1 and a coating layer 3 which consists of a resin contg. a vinylidene/chlorotrifluoroethylene copolymer having >=200% tensile break strength (ASTM D1708 23 deg.C 100mm tension rate) and has >=0.01mm thickness on the outer side of the bare plastic optical fiber 1 consisting of a core and a sheath. Then, there are substantially no increase in transmission loss and dimensional change even if the fiber cord is immersed for 100 hours in cutting oil of 85 deg.C. In addition, the peeling of the coating layers are easily executed and the projection and retraction are lessened. |
