PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter melting method of an iron-containing raw material which comprises supplying a solid iron-containing raw material and a carbon-containing fuel to a melting converter including a melting iron bath and blowing oxygen to melt the solid iron-containing raw material and enables increase of the secondary combustion rate without wear of converter furnace walls.SOLUTION: In the XYZ rectangular coordinate system defined so that the central axis of a top-blow lance 1 used for melting in a melting converter 6 is taken as Z axis and the position 4 of the outlet of a nozzle 2 lies on X axis, with the angles between the projections of the nozzle axis 5 on the YZ and XZ planes and the Z axis expressed as α and &bgr;, respectively, the torsion angle δ, defined by expression (1), is 10-80° and the lance height H/converter inside diameter D is 0.6-1.3 for an oxygen nozzle 2 having at least four holes.
