PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and a control method for the same that can perform attribute determination as to a photograph area with a tile in an image set as a unit or a non-photograph area with high precision.SOLUTION: In a tile information generator, a tile being noted is divided into areas each having a preset size, it is determined whether each divided area can be represented as having identity between pixels, and a graph representing the determination result is generated. For an area which cannot be represented as having identify, the area is further divided into areas each having a smaller size. When the area has a preset specific size and the area having the specific size cannot be represented as having the identity, it is assumed that the area concerned can be represented by pixels having N components each comprising M bits, and pixel information of a preset number of bits is generated. In an encoding type determining part, the total data amount of the generated flag and the pixel information is compared with a preset threshold value, and the attribute of the tile being noted is determined according to the comparison results. |
