PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the overall handling of not only the image output device but also a device externally connected in accordance with a projectable state from a projection preparation state.SOLUTION: An image output device comprises: an HDMI-I/F31 and HDMI connector parts 34 configured to connect an external device, input an image signal output by the external device, and input/output various control information to/from the external device; projection systems 13 to 26 configured to form an optical image corresponding to an input image signal and project a formed optical image toward a projection object; and control systems 27 to 29 configured to determine whether or not the projection systems 13 to 26 are projectable at a point in time that control information notifying the start of the input of an image signal from the external device is input, to bring about standby until the projection systems 13 to 26 become projectable if the determination is made that they are not projectable, and to output, via the HDMI-I/F31 and HDMI connector parts 34, control information requesting the external device to output an image signal at a point in time that they have become projectable. |
