The apparatus comprises a channel for fuel to be treated, a photocatalyst situated within the channel so as to be in contact with the fuel passing therethrough, electromagnetic radiation source means for irradiating the catalyst and magnetic field source means for providing a magnetic field to which the fuel is exposed.
