PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus capable of generating compressed image data from the original image data, while ensuring the recording capacity of a recording medium.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus has generation means (110, 141) for generating first compressed image data of smaller size than the original image data from the original image data recorded on a recording medium (152), determination means (161) for determining whether or not second compressed image data, generated from the original image data, is recorded on the recording medium, data erasing means (161) for erasing at least any one of the original image data, first and second compressed image data, recorded on the recording medium, and control means (161) for erasing the second compressed image data if it has been recorded on the recording medium, when the first compressed image data is generated by the generation means, and recording the first compressed image data on the recording medium. |
