PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit protection element that can stabilize a pre-arcing time-current characteristic, and a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A circuit protection element has an insulating substrate 11, a pair of upper surface electrodes 12 provided to both the end portions of the insulating substrate 11, an element part 13 which is formed to bridge the pair of upper surface electrodes 12 and electrically connected to the pair of upper surface electrodes 12, at least two trimming grooves 19 formed on the element part 13 by laser, and a fused part 15 provided to an area surrounded by the two trimming grooves 19. A metal layer 16 formed of Sn is formed on the upper surface of the element part 13, the width of the metal layer 16 is set to be larger than the width of the element part 13, and the metal layer 16 is provided to cover a place where the fused part 15 and the two trimming grooves 19 are formed. |
