<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a liquid crystal composition for an active matrix type liquid crystal display element, which has a wide liquid crystal phase temperature range and low viscosity; and an active matrix type liquid crystal display element with wide operation temperature range using the liquid crystal composition.SOLUTION: A nematic liquid crystal composition comprises 30-65% of a compound represented by the structural formula (1) as a first component, and a compound represented by the general formula (2) as a second component. The liquid crystal composition has extremely low viscosity, has a stable nematic phase at low temperature, has a wide liquid crystal phase temperature range, and allows adjustment of refractive index anisotropy over a wide range, thereby being useful as a constituent of an active matrix type liquid crystal display element.</p> |
