PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microbial fuel cell in which, without affected by change of a liquid amount, output is stable and scale-up is easy.SOLUTION: A microbial fuel cell includes: a vessel; liquid which is housed in the vessel and contains organic matter and an electron-donating microorganism; an anode disposed to be in contact with the liquid; and a cathode having gas permeability, which is arranged so as to be in contact with ambient air and in direct contact with liquid or so as to be adjacent to a barrier membrane while holding the barrier membrane having cation permeability. The anode and the cathode are floated in the liquid or on the surface thereof. |
