According to an embodiment of the present invention, a gateway device is provided with buffer memory, a conversion table, a first control unit, a second control unit, and a third control unit. In the buffer memory, first data to be transmitted in a first network, and second data to be transmitted in a second network are temporarily stored. In the conversion table, conversion information for converting formats of the first data and the second data to and from each other is registered. The first control unit is configured such that the first data is generated from the second data on the basis of the conversion information, said second data having been stored in the buffer memory. The second control unit is configured such that the second data is generated from the first data on the basis of the conversion information, said first data having been stored in the buffer memory. The third control unit is configured such that the third control unit reads out the conversion information from the conversion table, and notifies the first control unit and the second control unit of the conversion information thus read out. |
