A machinery casing portion 201 for an engine, having a first sealing face 203 configured to engage a second sealing face (205, Fig. 3) of a second machinery casing portion (207, Fig. 3) so as to form a sealed joint there between in an assembled configuration, the machinery casing portion 201 comprising a recess 209 configured to receive a sealant, the recess 209 being provided adjacent to the first sealing face 203, and at least one opening 211 configured to receive a fastener, wherein the opening 211 at least partially extends into a wall of the recess 209. The invention is intended to provide a more efficiently packaged casing while maintaining the structural and sealing requirements of the joints between casing components. |
