The purpose of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display device which is sufficiently reduced in warping of a liquid crystal display panel, thereby being suppressed in display unevenness due to the warping. A liquid crystal display device according to the present invention comprises a display panel that comprises a first polarizing plate, a liquid crystal cell and a second polarizing plate, and a backlight. The first polarizing plate is arranged on the viewing side of the liquid crystal cell and comprises a first polarizer, a protection film (F1) and a protection film (F2). The second polarizing plate is arranged on the backlight side of the liquid crystal cell and comprises a second polarizer, a protection film (F3) and a protection film (F4). The absorption axis of the first polarizer is parallel to the long side direction (α) of the display panel and is perpendicular to the absorption axis of the second polarizer. If W1 is the contraction force of the protection film (F1) represented by formula (1) and W4 is the contraction force of the protection film (F4) represented by formula (1), the contraction force ratio W1/W4 is more than 0.84 but 1.2 or less. |
