404,311. Burglar and like alarms. MARTIN, T., 24, North End House, Fitzjames Avenue, London, and JONES, F. H., River House, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. June 25, 1932, No. 17999. [Class 118 (i).] An alarm for giving warning of the unauthorized use of motor vehicles and for other purposes comprises a valve 17 in the exhaust pipe 11, 13, 12 of the engine adapted to be moved so as to cover the normal passage 18 and uncover a chamber 19 which conducts the exhaust gases through a port 20 to a whistle. The valve spindle 15 is turned against the action of a spring 25 by a Bowden wire 24 which is operated manually by a plunger controlled by a combination lock and protected by a locked and concealed casing. The device may be used to protect premises, unauthorised entry starting an engine or a prime mover driving a compressor.
