In the present invention, it is revealed that hexanedioic acid has an antibacterial activity or an antibacterial effect against Salmonella typhi by inhibiting growth and proliferation of the Salmonella typhi and inducing growth inhibition, and can be used as a composition for treating, alleviating, or preventing typhoid utilizing the same. The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing typhoid, a health food composition for preventing or alleviating typhoid, and a feed composition for preventing or alleviating typhoid, containing hexanedioic acid as an active ingredient. The pharmaceutical composition, the health food composition, and the feed composition in accordance with the present invention suppress growth and proliferation of the Salmonella typhi and inhibit survival of the same, thereby being useful as a bactericide for treating, alleviating, or preventing typhoid. |
