A payment network consisting of standardized, identical electronic payment devices allowing for transferring money only between devices of said network, and decreasing the amount of money transferred, by the amount of a tax, during each transfer. I.e., each device acts like a banknote which has a variable value. A payment device contains a transceiver having special hardware and software used for establishing a connection to a different payment device, for instance by means of a radio connection or mechanical contact, and used for determining, by means of a friend-or-foe method, whether a responding device pertains to the common payment network. The devices also include memory units or memory files for storing the amount of money, and a tax-collection component for decreasing the received sum by the amount of tax prior to storing same in the memory unit. The network contains one device, located in the national finance ministry, said device having hardware and software which makes same a currency emitter; and money circulates between the remaining devices, located in various places, for instance in the possession of individual citizens, with a gradual decrease in the total sum. |
