An automatic compensation method, a corresponding device and a corresponding flow cytometer. The automatic compensation method includes: determining a fundamental cell cluster and a reference cell cluster in each cell cluster on the basis of the position of each cell cluster in the scatter plot that needs to be compensated, wherein the fundamental cell cluster is the double negative cell cluster and the reference cell cluster is the single positive cell cluster adjacent to the fundamental cell cluster in the compensative direction (S10); calculating automatically the compensation value through a progressive approximation algorithm on the basis of the position of the fundamental cell cluster, and updating the scatter plot with the compensation value, so that the position difference between the reference cell cluster and the fundamental cell cluster both in the scatter plot in the compensative direction is within a predetermined range (S16). The method can automatically perform the adjustment and compensation for the image. Therefore, the workload of the user is reduced and the accuracy of the compensation is improved.
