A casting rod (1) including a tip rod (10) formed of a fiber reinforced resin material into a tubular shape; and a distal end region of the tip rod (10) is provided with a high specific gravity member (20) having a specific gravity three to six times as high as a material constituting the tip rod (10). A method of fabricating a tip rod (10) of a casting rod (1) comprises the steps of:
fitting a metal tube (20) around a small diameter portion (51) at a distal end of a mandrel (50) having a circular section;
rolling, on a mandrel (50) having the tube (20) fitted therearound, a plurality of prepreg sheets (15) having a lower specific gravity than the tube (20); and
heating the mandrel (50) having the prepreg sheets (15) rolled thereon to harden a synthetic resin in the prepreg sheets (15) and then pulling out the mandrel (50).
