A power steering arrangement 1 features two rack assemblies, in separate housings 3, 5, acting upon a single pinion, one manually 3, and one in a power assisted manner 5. In this manner a dual pinion assisted steering mechanism may be provided in which the position of an electric assist motor may be placed in a desirable position. Also disclosed is a corresponding method of making the apparatus, in which the first and second housings 3, 5 are assembled to a third housing portion containing the pinion. |
