An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to widen a field of view of the LCD and display high definition images by properly controlling an arrangement direction of LC. In a first substrate(100), a pixel area is defined. A second substrate(200) faces the first substrate. An LC layer is interposed between the first and second substrates. A storage electrode(120) is formed on the first substrate. A first transparent insulating film pattern is formed on the storage electrode, and includes areas opened with a first width corresponding to a width of the storage electrode and a second width narrower than the first width. A pixel electrode(180) is formed on the first transparent insulating film pattern. A common electrode(240) is formed on the second substrate, and has a domain dividing unit(250) for dividing the pixel area into plural domains. The domain dividing unit is partially overlapped with the storage electrode on a plane. The first transparent insulating film pattern is opened with the second width at the overlapped area. |
