PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality up to focusing, and to improve focusing accuracy. SOLUTION: In the automatic focusing device performing focusing jointly that uses a first automatic focusing system, where lens driving control of moving a focusing lens to a focusing point is performed, based on the focal signal and a second automatic focusing system, where lens driving control of moving the focusing lens to a focusing point is performed based on information corresponding to the distance of a subject, the device comprises a control means (S205), where the moving direction of the focusing lens to the focusing point by the second automatic focusing system and the moving direction of the focusing lens to the focusing point by the first automatic focusing system are compared; and based on the result, whether the lens driving control by the second automatic focusing system is to be performed is decided.
