PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new diallyl halide useful as a monomer raw material of a polyamide resin and a polyurethane resin, and an intermediate for a pharmaceutical and agrochemical raw material, and to provide a method for producing the diallyl halide. SOLUTION: The diallyl halide is represented by general formula (1): X-CH<SB>2</SB>-CH=CH-(CH<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>-CH=CH-CH<SB>2</SB>-X (wherein, X is each independently a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom; n is an integer of 4-6). The method for producing the diallyl halide includes carrying out a ring-opening cross metathesis reaction of 1,4-dihalogeno-2-butene with a cyclic olefin in the presence of a metathesis reaction catalyst.
