A method and a system for providing a moving picture service are provided to enable a plurality of users to collaboratively make the moving picture by respectively editing a moving picture and reflecting all contents edited by each user on the moving picture. A database(110) stores an original moving picture transmitted to a first user computer(200-1) in response to an original moving picture transmission request of the first user computer. A meta-information generating module(120) receives editing information indicating edition information of the original moving picture from the first user computer, and generates and stores meta-information corresponding to the received edition information to the database. A data transceiving module(130) transmits the original moving picture and the meta-information stored in the database to a second user terminal(200-2) in response to a request of transmitting an edited moving picture and transmits a moving picture player to the second user computer based on the original moving picture and the meta-information. The edition information includes at least one of caption information, moving picture merging information, and picture insertion information.
