Strontium salts of sulfonic acids are provided to treat bone arthritis and osteoporosis by inhibiting decomposition activity of metalloprotease, thereby protecting degradation of specific ingredients of cartilage. Strontium salts of sulfonic acids represented by the formula(I) of A-B-SO3H is useful for treatment of bone arthritis and osteoporosis, wherein A is OH, NH2, SO3H and CO2H; B is linear or branched C1-C12 alkylene ring or arylene group optionally substituted by one group selected from hydroxy, oxo, amino, SO3H and CO2H, wherein at least one carbon atom is optionally substituted by oxygen, nitrogen or SO2 group and strontium bis(aminomethanesulfonate), strontium methanedisulfonate, strontium 1,3-benzenedisulfonate, strontium 6-sulfonatohexanoate, strontium 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate, strontium 1,6-naphthalenedisulfonate, strontium bis(6-hydroxy-2-naphthalenesulfonate), strontium 2-oxo-1,3-propandisulfonate, strontium hydroxymethanesulfonate, strontium bis(4-aminobenzenesulfonate), strontium bis(2-aminobenzenesulfonate), strontium bis(3-aminobenzenesulfonate), strontium 1,2-ethanedisulfonate and strontium 3-amino-3-carboxy-1-propansulfonate chloride are excluded; and arylene is phenylene, biphenylene or naphthylene optionally substituted by one group selected from linear or branched C1-C6 alkyl, OH, NH2, SO3H and CO2H.
