PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system enabling a user who uses a plurality of terminals concurrently, to use presence service and transmit/receive IM (instant messages) from any terminal without a sense of incongruity. SOLUTION: An IM and P (presence) server 3 determines presence information on the user by a presence control section 32 and performs transmit/receive control of IM by an IM control section 31 based on priority corresponding to the meaning of presence information set from each of PC terminals 1-2, 1-1 and hand-set terminals 2-0, 2-1, a time stamp with each presence information generated, and service capacity of each terminal changed according to the classification and cooperating state of the terminals.
