PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the position of a magnetic head so as to make fluctuation and deviation of the position of the magnetic head small by accurately performing track positioning of the magnetic head for recording/reproducing data to/from a magnetic recording medium with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium on which a signal is recorded by changing the magnetized state of a magnetic body has areas of high recording frequency servo signal patterns 15a and 15c and low recording frequency servo signal patterns 16a and 16c recorded by different recording frequencies in parallel with a central track 13 so as to be read by a reproducing head 10 when the reproducing head 10 reproduces a servo signal used to control the position of the reproducing head 10 along a prescribed track.
