<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distributed optical fiber sensor for high-accuracy measuring of strain and/or temperature, at high spatial resolution. <P>SOLUTION: The distributed optical fiber sensor 1 comprises a staircase-like optical pulse light source 11 for emitting optical pulses that are in the form of steps by optical intensity, while changing a frequency so that the optical intensity is larger toward the inside; a detection optical fiber 20 for making the optical pulse incident; and a natural Brillouin time region detection part 19 for measuring strain and/or temperature in the longitudinal direction of the detection optical fiber 20, on the basis of natural Brillouin scattering light by receiving the natural Brillouin scattering light generating caused by the optical path from the detection optical fiber 20. The Brillouin time region detection part 19 measures strain and/or temperature by receiving the natural Brillouin scattering light, via a narrow band optical band pass filter 204 having narrower transmission frequency band than the half value and the half width in spectrum of the natural Brillouin scattering light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
