A method for providing contents and an electronic device having content providing function are provided effectively to adjust heartbeat of a user and recover a heart rate of the user from an abnormal heartbeat state to a normal heartbeat state. A method for providing contents using an electronic device having content providing function comprises the following steps of: receiving information related to current heart rate of a user(S500); selecting an audio file having specific tempo by considering the current heart rate of the user and reference heart rate(S530); and simultaneously reproducing heart rate sound for indicating the current heart rate of the user and the selected audio file(S550). The reference heart rate can be set by the user.
