PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet stacking device to eject and place paper sheets fed along a transport path, capable of sensing that sheets are stacked to a predetermined height on a tray attached to an opening/closing part without hindering its opening/closing motions, the part being arranged to release the transport path when it opens outward with respect to the body part. SOLUTION: Members of an actuator 60 not requiring laying around of harnesses etc. are installed on the side of the opening/closing part 30b which releases at least part of the transport path 150 by opening outward with respect to the body part 30a, and a photo sensor 70 requiring laying around of harnesses etc. is installed in the body part 30a.
