PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera for preventing a user from being confused. SOLUTION: The digital camera is configured to include: a face detection means for detecting the face of an object; a setting means for setting a scene photographing mode controlled to have an optimum photographing condition by each assumed photographing scene; and a control means for controlling the detection of the face by the face detection means only when the scene photographing mode for assuming a photographing scene including a person by the setting means is established.
