PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing material for a battery capable of preventing occurrence of molding defects such as a crease in the packing material, and a pinhole or a crack in aluminum, excelling in moldability, and capable of preventing deposition or bleed out of a slip agent, degradation of slidability or the like in processes from the manufacturing of a packing material as the packing material for a battery to completion of the battery. SOLUTION: This packing material for a battery is provided with at least a base material layer, aluminum foil, a chemical conversion treatment layer and a thermally-adhesive resin layer. The packing material for a battery is so structured that a surface layer formed of a polydimethylsiloxane-based block copolymer manufactured by copolymerizing a vinyl copolymer by using, as an initiator, azo group-containing polydimethylsiloxane amide is formed on a surface of the base material layer.
