PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photosensitive material and a heat developable photosensitive material having high sharpness, particularly a heat developable photosensitive material having high sharpness and giving a high quality image with little residual color. SOLUTION: The silver halide photosensitive material contains a phthalocyanine compound represented by formula (PC-1) wherein at least one of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>4</SP>, R<SP>5</SP>, R<SP>8</SP>, R<SP>9</SP>, R<SP>12</SP>, R<SP>13</SP>and R<SP>16</SP>is an electron-withdrawing group. The heat developable photosensitive material has, on at least one side of a support, at least an image forming layer containing a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt and a reducing agent for the organic silver salt, and at least one non-photosensitive layer, wherein the heat developable photosensitive material contains a phthalocyanine compound represented by the formula (PC-1).
