PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil purifying method and an oil filter capable of efficiently reducing the concentration of soot in oil. SOLUTION: The oil filter is provided with a casing 10 wherein engine oil can flow, a filtration member 18 provided inside the casing 10, and a capacitor 20 provided inside the casing 10 and positioned in an upstream side of the filtration member 18. In electrodes 21, 22, 23 of the capacitor 20 electrified by applying voltage among the electrodes 21, 22, 23, impurities 30 in the engine oil are adsorbed and developed by accumulation. Then, by inversion of negative and positive poles or electric discharge among the electrodes 21, 22, 23, the impurities 30 are released from the electrodes 21, 22, 23, and removed by the filtration member 18.
