PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display information which is required for optimizing the operation of a photoelectric switch including improving the operational environment of the photoelectric switch, so as for a user to be able to easily grasp it. SOLUTION: In a first picture, a "threshold" is numerically displayed on a first display part 17, and a "current quantity of received light" is numerically displayed on a second display part 18. An M key 23 is pressed short to switch display pictures sequentially from the first picture and in a fourth picture, a "maximum value" and a "minimum value" of the quantity of received light for a fixed period are displayed. In the fourth picture, "PhLd" meaning the maximum value, "bhLd" meaning the minimum value, and the numerical value of the maximum value and the numerical value of the minimum value are alternately displayed. When the operation of a threshold control up/down key switch 21 is started in the fourth picture, the fourth picture is automatically switched to the first picture at once and while the up/down key switch 21 is operated, the first picture is maintained, but when the operation of the key switch 21 is stopped, it is returned to the original fourth picture.
