PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability by using a material having a lower melting point and getting rid of rapid reaction with water, etc. as a coolant for a liquid metal-cooled nuclear power plant. SOLUTION: This liquid metal-cooled nuclear power plant comprises a reactor vessel 1 stored with a reactor core 2 and a primary coolant 3, a primary heat exchanger 5 for conveying heat of the primary coolant to a secondary coolant 6, a secondary heat exchanger 8 for conveying heat of the secondary coolant to a tertiary coolant 9, a primary coolant pump 4 for circulating the primary coolant, and a secondary coolant pump 7 for circulating the secondary coolant. Liquid metal is used as the primary and secondary coolants. A liquid metal composed mainly of gallium is used at least as the secondary coolant. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
